Our World is Changing!
I have often said that we are leaving the information age and entering the age of creativity. If you want a good example of this, head on over to etsy.com. If you look around this site, you see average everyday people who are true creative innovators.
According to alexa.com, etsy ranks #233. That pretty much confirms the fact that the world is changing. People are more inclined to shop where the customer service is better, the products are locally made, and the business is family owned. Etsy fits into this category.
We are in the middle of a recession, but yet, if you look at many of the smaller businesses who provide excellent customer service and are locally owned, they do not seem to be having as many financial problems as the larger businesses.
Why is this? Because of creative innovation by average everyday people. These people are your friends and neighbors. They are a part of your community. They are people we all want to see succeed. These are the people setting the trend as we move into the age of creativity.
Introducing: Creative Innovators!
In the last post I mentioned the difference between small business owners and creative innovators. If you are living paycheck to paycheck, creative innovation is what you need to get out of your trap.
Creative innovators create their own opportunities. They don’t let the fact that they are living paycheck to paycheck stop them. They tweak their ideas and make them work.
You may have a dream, but not the finances to turn your dream into a reality. Congratulations, you are part of the growing majority of the human race. There is nothing wrong with this. What you need to do is creatively dissect your dream and turn a portion of it into reality.
Your Own Small Business
We know a young man who has raced motorcycles since he was about four years old. He lives, eats, and breaths dirt bikes. For as long as I can remember, his dream has been to own his own motorcycle shop.
Unfortunately, he is only 23 years old and still borrows money from mom and dad. When he stopped dreaming of owning his shop and focused on how he was going to get a shop, he began his own business.
What he did was dissect his dream. He narrowed his dream into an achievable chunk which will someday allow him to own his very own motorcycle shop.
Currently, he rebuilds old used motorcycles and makes them look and run like new. He makes a pretty good profit and is working towards saving his money. He hopes to have his motorcycle shop in a few years.
This young man is a true creative innovator. He did not let his lack of finances get in his way. He is the perfect example of—if you want something badly enough, you will find a way to get it.
Be Creative to Get What You Want
You can find additional sources of income almost anywhere. The hard part comes in trying to find enough income so you can quit your dead end job. If you are short of cash, it would actually be a better idea to keep your dead end job while you work at creating your own business.
By having a small business while you keep your job, you can experiment, tweak, and be as creative as you want, without going broke from a lack of income. You can get your small business “just right” then quit your dead end job.
Never give up your dreams of being self-employed. Be creative to get what you want and never be afraid to succeed.
